Molly Hocking won series eight. By 2019 the show's machinery was familiar enough that a winner could be discussed as a singer rather than as a proof that the format still worked. The format had already worked, on two channels, for years.

Young winners raise the same fan question every series: what happens in the twelve months after the final, when the Saturday night slot has moved on. Some singers stay visible. Some go back to smaller stages and build more slowly. The fan site can follow the public part of that and should not invent the private part.
