Stevie McCrorie won series 4 in 2015, mentored by Ricky Wilson. Lucy O’Byrne was runner-up. Emmanuel Nwamadi and Sasha Simone completed the final.
O’Byrne moved into musical theatre and played Fantine in Les Misérables. The show had put a musical-theatre voice on a Saturday night audience. The jobs that followed were on stage, not in the pop chart.
Matt Henry, from series 2, had taken the same road and won an Olivier Award. The Voice UK has been a pop format. A noticeable share of its lasting careers have been in theatre.
