The first series needed a winner, and Leanne Mitchell was that winner. The coaches were will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones, Jessie J and Danny O'Donoghue. The hosts were Holly Willoughby and Reggie Yates. The thing the country actually remembered was the chair turning, but the competition still ended with one singer.

A first winner carries a particular weight. There is no previous Voice UK champion to be compared with. Every later winner is compared with the line that starts here. Fans do that comparison constantly, and they do not agree, which is why the forum has a past-series category.
