Danny O'Donoghue and the series one chair

Danny O'Donoghue came to the first series as the singer from The Script. The other original coaches were will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and Jessie J. Four pop and soul careers, one rule: sit with your back to the stage until the voice is enough.

His time on the panel is part of the early years. Viewers who only watched the later series can miss that the first panel was not the panel they know. A fan history has to keep the first names in the first place, or the show looks as if it started midway.

Fans argued then, as they argue now, about song choice and about who should have turned. Those arguments are the useful part of a fan site. They are not news from the production, and they are not a claim that any coach agrees with them.

The Script's own records stayed his other stage. The chair was a season of listening. Both belong in a piece about acts who came through the show, because the coaches were acts before they were coaches.
