Becky Hill did not win, then she did

Becky Hill auditioned on the first series of The Voice UK in 2012. She did not reach the final. The winner that year was Leanne Mitchell. The runner-up was Bo Bruce.
Hill’s career started properly after the show, in dance music. Gecko (Overdrive), with Oliver Heldens, was a UK number one. She followed it with a run of her own singles and albums and became one of the most played British dance voices of the next decade.
She is the clearest example of the show finding someone the final did not crown. The series made her visible. The records came later.
